The wishing well

Celebration, we have a well! it is 4.2 metres deep with 1.2 metres of water which is apparently good, especially as it has now been dry for several months. Still to be connected to the pump and the irrigation system, at last we will be able to water the olives and grapes , and not be on tender hooks as we use the last of the house water for the garden. Of course we are wishing all our trees and grapes will fourish from now. David smoothed out all the gravel and rocks around the well and sorted the largest river rocks and we took those to the front fence, there's still quite some landscaping to do! Over the weekend David cleared the 'vista' with the weedeater, so now I can sit in the lounge and look from the olives to the grapes and there is no long grass! I pruned all the water shoots from the bases of 89 trees. Pride and joy I picked the onions planted in october.
See pic, and sawed down the elderberry trees from the shearers quarters and along with all the rubble from the back of the building together with the rusty old water tank all ready to go to the landfill. Last evening we swam in the river at the end of the day, the sun sparkling on the very cool and refreshing water.

David's birthday

Family, friends and neighbours gathered to celebrate David's birthday, 64! Anne and Mark came for lunch and then stayed on as neighbours arrived. The rain came and we stayed out side under the umbrella. The kids had a good time down at the river then came back for savs and tomato sauce and coke, while we adults feasted on baked salmon, mini hamburgers from the new bbq and then birthday cake. At this point the heavens opened and it poured down for 40 minutes then a warm still night. Pirimia had bought fire works so we had a wonderous display of shooting stars and lights to complete the evening.
